As I write this we’re just a couple of days away from 2017. Many people are writing articles about what their goals are for the new year, what they want to accomplish, where they want to travel to, etc. I’m not going to do that. I want to help you start the new year off right with a little motivation.

The Golden Age of Success
We are blessed to be living in the golden age of success. At no point in history has the barrier to creating your own success been so low. Ubiquitous internet access and the proliferation of mobile devices has made it possible to create a business around the things that interest you the most. The wide variety of business opportunities now is astounding, even more so than the early days of the internet.
Just this morning my youngest daughter was watching Youtube videos of someone playing with some of the same toys that she has. She was absolutely engrossed by those videos. I’m not sure who that particular Youtube channel belonged to, sorry for that, but I’m sure they are able to monetize that in a way that would have never been possible 10, or even 5, years ago. They are most likely making a living from their passion, and there’s no reason that you can’t do the same.
The old saying that “if you love what you do then it doesn’t feel like work” is absolutely true. Everyone has something that they’re passionate about, something that they would jump out of bed in the morning to begin working on. I encourage you to identify that passion and make 2017 be the year that you take steps toward building a business around it.
The MFCEO Project
I recently stumbled upon the MFCEO Project podcast from Andy Frisella. I listened to a bunch of episodes over a 2 day period and was hooked. I’ve listened to countless business and entrepreneurial podcasts over the years, but this was the first time that a podcast host really resonated with me. Andy is one of the few people that I’ve ever encountered that has the same drive, passion, and thoughts about life and success that I do.
The MFCEO Project is all about encouraging people to be the CEO of their own lives. That’s exactly how I’ve always felt, Andy just does a far better job of articulating it than I ever could. Do yourself a favor and listen.
Like Andy, I believe that we have a duty to live up to our potential. Everyone has something that they’re really good at, some skill or trait that’s better than what most people have. We only get to live one life, and if you don’t take full advantage of the things that make you unique and your individual strengths then you are not living up to your potential. You’re leaving some of the most fulfilling things in life on the table, like accomplishment, more self-esteem, and probably even money.
I’ve always felt that I could accomplish anything… that absolutely anything was possible. It’s my mission in life to never settle, always be pushing, always be growing, and reaching for my potential. I sincerely believe that applies to everyone, whether you’re an entrepreneur, a college student, a stay at home mom or someone who has worked at the same company for the last 30 years. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done before or where you’re at now, if you strive to reach your potential you can accomplish anything.
I’m primarily thinking about accomplishment in terms of business success, but it’s certainly not limited to that. If your biggest need right now is to take charge of your health, improve a relationship, or something else, then you can accomplish that as well.
2017 is All About Potential
You have unlimited potential. If you’re reading this, then you have unlimited potential — WE ALL DO. Stop for a second and think about what that actually means. You can achieve whatever you want if you’re willing to put in the work.
The new year holds unlimited potential for all of us. Let 2017 be the year that you realize your potential and begin to reach for it. You don’t want to be someone who finally realizes how much potential they have when it’s too late to do anything about it. Start now.
