Tweetchats, or Twitter chats, are chats that happen inside the normal flow of Twitter. There is a wide variety of scheduled weekly chats, some moderated and some not, that happen on a weekly basis. To participate in a Twitter chat all you have to do is append the chat’s hashtag to the end of your tweets.
My current favorite tweetchat is #blogchat, which happens at 9PM EST on Sundays. It seems like there are hundreds of participants in #blogchat because the streams move so quickly. #blogchat is moderated and has a set topic each week, which allows it to be useful while having some structure. Tweet chats are an excellent way to meet like-minded individuals, and I’ve met many great people at #blogchat in recent weeks.
Here is a curated list of tweetchats.
TweetChat.com is a Twitter tool specifically designed for participating in tweetchats.
Have you ever participated in a tweet chat? If so, what do you think? What are your favorite tweet chats? Comments appreciated 🙂
